Happy New Year!

fd9debba848d064ba4fc2012ddc1030b And so begins 2015…

I found the above image on pinterest, unfortunately I can’t find the original source to credit, but it really spoke to me. I started writing this post at the end of last year but I was feeling quite negative at the time (hey – I’m a woman, it’s my prerogative!). I was focussing quite heavily on number 7 – If someone can’t make the effort to be in your life – they don’t deserve to be there. It still rings true to me but I’ve decided that in 2015 I’m just going to stop obsessing over the so-called friends who can’t make the effort with me and just concentrate my energy elsewhere. I feel like I’m playing tennis yet the other person never seems to hit the ball back. So I’m done with the thinking “oh my message may have been lost in cyber space, they probably didn’t receive it”, honestly there are only a small percentage of times where this possibility could be true. Been there, done that. They can’t be bothered. End of. Forget about 7 and concentrate on 12 – the people who matter most.

As it happens, I’ve already “broken” number 1 and 2. I spent New Years Eve and New Years Day at Disneyland Paris so eating regularly was replaced with queuing for rides, and eating well was ousted by burgers, fries and pizza (all very delicious but not at all nutritious!). The early train to Paris meant an early start on New Years Eve and the midnight celebrations followed by another day in the parks meant the whole get enough sleep thing went out the window! But who cares when you’re in the company of Mickey and his pals!

I more than made up for it with 9 and 11 – if you can’t look like a wally and have an impromptu solo dance party at Disneyland then where can you?! And being British, nothing is a better remedy for being cold and tired than a good cup of tea.

Looking back, 2014 has been a pretty good year, the highs far outweigh the lows and for that I am truly grateful. I got to visit some incredible places and see some amazing things – cherry blossoms in Japan and the Northern Lights in Iceland were particular travel highlights.

So as far as New Years Resolutions go, aside from continuing to travel when I can afford to and spending time on the people and things that matter, my goal is to see this blog through for the whole year.

Can I do it? Watch this space I guess!
